Cross Country... Crazy Kidz :)

Congratulations to the Richfield Cross Country team. They have had a great year, and I am so proud of them. They just had their district and State tournament. Here they are at districts. Sasha Kent took second place and went on to State, where she ended up beating the Shoshone girl that beat her at districts. Matthew is now my new hero. He ran his heart out, after he was done he asked us all if it was ok that he felt like he could smell and taste the inside of his stomach.... I had no idea what to say to that, so I laughed. The week before Matthew took 5th place and ran the 3 1/2 mile race in 20 min 13 seconds. So we thought that he would have a chance to go to State. But there were different runners in this race and they were extremely fast. I think that the first place guy ran it in 17min. Matthew ended up getting 19th out of about 50 boys, and he ran it is 20min 15sec. I love watching him run because he does not look like a boy with a disability, he looks like competition and a regular boy. It also help that with Matthews history of seizures and other cases of bad luck (broken arms, re-bar through the knee, etc.) he doesn't seem to feel pain. I love watching him at the end of the race, when he is able to sprint with all that he has left and cross that finish line. I tear up every time I see him do that. He is an amazing boy. I hope he can have his chance at State next year. The rest of the team ran great as well and I am so proud of all of them. Richfield Cross Country Team. Coached by Becky Ward, good job Becky. (Jordan Kent, James Clayton, Robbie Schmidt, Hason Workmen, Matthew Ellis, and Sasha Kent.)
Here are the boys right before their race. They don't look nervous at all. (Jordan Kent, James Claton, Robbie Schmidt, Hason Workmen, and Matthew)

Here are the boys on the starting line... Oh I'm so nervous. This is Cindy Brownly and Whitney. Cindy is the School bus driver and Whitney loves her because she give her crackers :)
Whitney, Grandma and Grandma great. They are giving each other high fives.
