Gleaning Potatos With Grandma Debbie and Papa

Every year the Telford's let everyone go out and dig up the potatoes after they have harvested them. They will often leave behind potato's where they could not get in with their big equipment. Like right next to a rock pile or on corners of the fields. So we go out with our shovels and did up the left overs. This year we got back to Richfield to get potatoes later than we should have because I think the whole town of Richfield had already picked over everything. We went through two different field and were not finding much of anything. Finally Bernave found a sweet spot out in the middle of the field where they had misses some rows on accident, I'm sure. The problem was that by the time we found that spot it was starting to get dark. So we all hustled and ended up filling four sack. Not including all the potatoes that Lance ate. He loved them dirt and all. Debbie said that was how Berny used to like his potatoes too. What can I say, they are born and bread Idaho boys.
I started out trying to keep Lance out of the dirt by putting him on a gunny sack. But there was no way he would stay on that thing not when there was so many things to put in his mouth. Then I tried working one handed and holding him. But I think Whitney was more help than me working one handed so I caved and let the little farm boy rolling the dirt. He loved it!!
Whitney loved it too, she drove the truck with Berny and she helped pick up the potatoes and put them in the bag. She also came up with the idea to fold them in her shirt and then carry a lot to the bag not just one at a time. Smart girl.

Dirty boy! Idaho Boy!

Whitney and Grandma Debbie

Papa and Dad trying to find potatoes. The sad thing was that we would find spots that had been dug up with frozen potatoes all over the ground. Some one had dug it up and only took the really big one and left everything else to get ruined by nights frost. What a waist!!

Mom and Whitney, Mom with one potato and Whitney with her shirt full!
Dad and Papa would dig and we would fallow and pick up what they dug then put it in the bag.

The kid with the finished product. I am so glad that Bernave found those rows when he did or we would have ended up with maybe one and a half bags.

Witty Whitney Moment

I actually have two Witty Whitney moments. The first one happened at Grandma Debbie's house. Whitney needed to go to the bathroom so she ran to Grandma's bathroom while she was going #2 Debbie walked in on her. When she did Grandma Debbie told Whitney "Yucky Whitney, you poop is stinky." Whitney replied, "Well Grandma its not food!"
The next one happened today. Berny and I got some presents for a family in town. One of the gifts that we got was Barbie that had really pretty wings on her. Whitney really likes it and she has been carrying it around all day. I told her that she could hold it but not open it, because we were giving it to a little girl that really needed it. Later she brought it to me and said, "This present is not for the kids it is for Grandma Debbie." I asked her, "What will Grandma Debbie do with it?" Whitney replied, "Grandma Debbie will give it to me." Such a witty Whitney!!

Are you ready for winter? Getting Firewood!!

Mom and Dad have a wood burning stove, so as long as they have lived in the house they live in now, which has been most of my life, they have had to go up and get wood at the beginning of the fall to be ready for winter. This year we decided to camp up in the mountains while we cut the wood. It was great family time, We had Mom, dad, Matthew, Davids family, Derricks family, and us.
In the morning all the girls found Grandma. If only grandma had more arms.
So this is a funny story. We were getting breakfast ready when we realized that Whitney and Ady-mae were no where to be seen. So I went looking for them. I heard so laughing coming from our tent, and they were laughing hard. I went into to see what they were doing and I saw that they were bouncing each other on the air matters. One would jump while the other would sit and they would laugh so hard when either of them would fall down, which happen a lot. It was really cute. I am so glad that Whitney gets to have cousins to play with.

Whitney dressed herself that morning, if you can tell she is wearing her swimming suit. I think she was hoping there would be water where we were at but there wasn't

Strapping it all down. We ended up with two other big trailer just like this one. It is amazing what you can do with a lot of people and some good women to make lunch, bring water, and watch kids.

Hayley's Wedding

Hayley is one of my best friends from Richfield High School. Her love story has been a great testimony builder for me. I know, after her experience, that the Lord is mindful of everything and is willing to bless us when we are doing what he has commanded us to do. I have learned from her that I should never fear because everything that happens in our lives even the bad things with work together for our good to those who love God and recognize his miracles in their lives. Last year Hayley went through a divorce that was really hard for me and everyone else who loves her to watch her go through. She has always been an example to me of how I want to be. She is a kind and thoughtful person always putting others above herself, which with two kids is really hard to do. So it didn't seem fair that she should have to go through such a hard trial. A few months before her divorce was final she was in the temple with her parents and that was where she met Jeremy. I like to say that the Lord literally set them up on a blind date. They became friends and after her divorce was finally Jeremy asked her out and a few months later they were married. He is a really great guy and they are perfect for each other!! An amazing thing about her story is that Jeremy also has 3 children from a previous marriage so with both of their kid Hayley became a mother of 5 instantly, and I can really see how the Lord has been preparing her for that, ever since she was a young girl. She is an amazing person and I am thankful for her faith and for what I have learned from her experience. The Lord is in control and has a plan for everything, there are no accidents and our trials are given to us to make us stronger. And then just like Job, if we have faith and endure it well, we will be blessed with more than what we have lost!!

Fishing With Grandma Debbie and Papa

This summer we went fishing with Berny's parents. We had so much fun. Whitney was so excited to go fishing, she had a brand new princess fishing pole. I don't think that she knew that fish would mean she would actually have to touch, see, or smell an actual fish, because she was not very excited about those fish when they were anywhere close to her. Lance loved them, we had to hold him back just so that he wouldn't try to put them in his mouth.
I had a really hard time catching anything at first which was frustrating because of course Berny caught one and Bernave was pulling them out left and right. So I took Bernave's spot and there was still nothing, but in my old spot the fish were just walking out of the water for Bernave. I then decided that the problem must just be the fisherman and Berny and Bernave let me real in theirs. But by the end of the day I did catch one or two.

Lance enjoying Papa's fish

Bernave the expert fisherman!! And Grandma and Whitney too. Whitney was excited because she had her own special Whitney chair.Whitney was not happy
Whitney is freaking out because she does not want Papa's fish to come near her.

My first fish, it was a little one but I kept it because I was afraid I would not catch another one.
Berny's first catch of the day. It was after this that I really started getting seriouse because I couldn't let Berny catch more than me. But he did anyway!
Bernave caught the biggest fish of us all, but I got to eat it so I was happy about it.
The big fish was a fighter and Whitney kept her distance.
